The Quest for The Perfect Pizza RecipeHave you ever wondered where you could find a nice, thick and gooey pizza pie when you are out of the city? I have found it to be nearly impossible with all but a few exceptions. I have traveled all thru this country over the past decade and tried most every place that promised a deep dish pizza like we could get back home. From Zackary’s out in Berkley, California to Uno’s in Orlando, Florida and places in between such as Mr. G’s Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza in Branson, MO I have tried them all including pizza from pizza concession trucks. Ok, not all of them but since moving out of Chi-town if you give me the opportunity to have a Chicago style pizza you don’t have to ask twice. There are some that do make a pretty darn good pizza. Zackary’s was one that came to mind first. Probably one of the best I have had from a pizzeria outside of the Windy City. And with the employee’s now owning the company service is above average for the bay area as well. But Patxi’s over in the city can definitely make you reconsider giving Zackary’s the title of best in the bay area. But then there are places like Uno’s in Orlando, Florida that leave you wondering who screwed things up when the company was franchised. And I will never forget the Mr. G’s in Branson, Missouri when I told the waitress that she had made a mistake, we ordered the Chicago style responded with “that’s the way we make the Chicago style down here.” If I hadn’t been looking forward to that pie that I just knew was going to be stuffed with mozzarella, sausage, green peppers, mushrooms and onions I would have laughed. When I woke yesterday I had the idea to build this website with the mission to provide a single source for pizza restaurants, reviews, recipes, and even throw in some trivia and history on the subject. Take a look around, stop by our pizzeria directory and rate your favorite hangout. And if you are not near a decent pie shop download our home made Chicago style pizza recipe because I promise you won’t be disappointed. |
